Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some answers to frequently asked questions:

I do not work on tube amps unless they are HYBRIDS (solid state preamps)
I do not do Mods on tube amps or solid state amps. Too risky for me.
If you need advice on what to do with your old amp I'm happy to help out, to a point.
If you have already taken your amp apart and want help fixing it, I'll need you to put it back together exactly as it was and bring me the whole thing so I can test it when I'm done and won't get blamed for missing parts.
Yes, I need a schematic to work on your amp. If you have one , awesome! if not, I'll need to get one before I can work on your amp.
Yes, I do bass amps, as long as they are SOLID STATE.
I have years of experience in soldering and a growing collection of test gear.
I have done Effects units and pedal boards BUT I'd rather not work on those.
My turnaround time depends on when I get the amp, what's wrong with it, finding the parts, ordering them, receiving them, putting them in.
Unfortunately, I do not run a While-U- Wait shop. I'll need the amp for, at the very least, a day to diagnose and order parts if needed. I do not stock everything in-house.
Unfortunately, some older amps have obsolete parts which are nearly impossible to find. This is something that's beyond my control. If a suitable replacement is available, it will be used where possible.
I do not make money on parts. If I need to order them, you will pay what I did to get them, including shipping, to the cent. You will be given the receipt from the parts vendor. If I had the part in-house you'll be charged the going rate for the part. I don't like ripping people off.

I take CASH ONLY. No checks or money orders etc.
